Dr. Marcus Howard, an entrepreneur and pharmacist has opened GreaterHealth Pharmacy & Wellness, the first ever Black-owned pharmacy in Missouri that delivers medications for free and offers telehealth services.
Located in St. Louis, this new pharmacy aims to fill a crucial gap for around 45,000 local residents who previously had no local pharmacy. After earning his bachelor's degree and Ph.D. in North Carolina, Dr. Howard returned to his hometown with a mission to make a difference.
He founded GreaterHealth Pharmacy & Wellness, bringing in his knowledge and experience to make a positive impact in his community.
Howard was quoted in an interview to have said: "I returned home to really take all the things that I learned out in the community in other places and bring them back home because I know St. Louis is a great place.
“It's my home. I just wanted to just bring something back and make a difference." GreaterHealth Pharmacy & Wellness stands out for its modern approach.
It offers free delivery for medications, over-the-counter products, and even fresh produce, whilst also providing telehealth services, including medication education, health screenings, and connections to healthcare providers. By opening GreaterHealth Pharmacy & Wellness, Dr. Howard is fulfilling his dream of improving healthcare access and quality in his community.
"To make pharmacy more accessible in pharmacy deserts we are first bridging the trust gap and second, we are making it more convenient by offering free medication delivery and telehealth options," Dr. Howard said. "I am looking forward to having a GreaterHealth Pharmacy in communities that need them most."
