Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Resort, has revealed it has picked up a duo of accolades at the 2016 World Travel Awards Europe. At a glittering ceremony held on the island of Sardinia last night, the celebrated cliff-top retreat took the highly contested top spot as Europe's Leading Family Resort – building on its impressive list of industry honours, which include six previous World Travel Awards for Portugal's leading family resort. This latest achievement was further complemented by the prestigious award for Europe's Leading New Resort, in recognition of Pine Cliffs recent emergence from an epic 18-month renovation which has utterly transformed the hotel at the resort's heart, while creating the new luxurious Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites and a stunning destination spa.

“It is heartening to be acknowledged amongst our industry peers in our relaunch year, which has seen our iconic resort emerge reinvigorated and leading the charge for luxury tourism in the Algarve,” said Thomas Schoen, Complex General Manager, Pine Cliffs, a Luxury Collection Resort. “At Pine Cliffs, we pride ourselves on providing our guests with a unique world-class hospitality experience delivered by an amazing team, and these prestigious accolades are the perfect recognition of that.”

Regarded as the “Oscars” of the travel industry, the World Travel Awards™ recipients are decided by travel industry professionals from more than 140 countries who cast more than a million votes over the duration of the campaign. Every year, regional ceremonies are held in Europe, the Middle East, Africa & the Indian Ocean, South & Central America, North America & the Caribbean and Asia & Australasia, with the successors competing head-to-head to determine who will triumph as the ultimate global category victor in World Travel Awards™ finale, which will take place later this year.
