Ian Groom from the regional consortium said “we know that January is a time when peoples thoughts start to turn to thinking of the future so we are holding events at Merry Hill, Telford and Walsall so that people can get the full facts on adopting a child”
There is unfortunately a shortage of adopters who are able to adopt siblings coming forward at a time when nearly half of all children for whom families are being sought are part of a sibling group. The Adoption Register for England shows that out of a total of 663 children on the register, 366 are part of sibling groups.
It is imperative that these children, many of who have had a hard start in life, experience the support and stability that being adopted with their brothers and sisters can bring. These groups are amongst those who wait the longest to be adopted as there is a shortage of people coming forward.
