Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is calling for Rugby fans and walkers from across the city to join their Rugby Ramble this February. The scenic 10 mile sponsored walk will take place on Saturday 11th February, starting from the Hospice and finishing at Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club where participants can watch the England vs Wales 6 Nations Match whilst refuelling with a tasty pie and a pint.
Lucy Watkins, Events Manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice said: “This is our second Rugby Ramble event and following the success of 2015 we’re really excited to bring it back. For those that enjoy walking and rugby this is the ideal way to spend a few hours in the company of fellow fans whilst enjoying the scenic suburbs of South Birmingham. We’re hoping to raise £6,000 from the event which will help us to support more families living with terminal illness across Birmingham and Sandwell.”
Registration will open at 12.00pm with the walk starting at 1.00pm from the Hospice in Selly Park. Walkers will follow a picturesque flat route through Selly Oak, Stirchley, Kings Heath and Moseley, stopping off at The Village in Moseley for a half way break if needed. A welcome pie and pint then awaits all participants at the Rugby Club where they’ll watch the hotly contested Six Nations game between England and Wales, with a coach transfer back to the Hospice at 7.00pm for those who require it.
Ajay Dodhia, of the Operations Team of Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting the Rugby Ramble for a second year and to support the Hospice once again. The work they do makes a huge difference to the local community and this event provides an opportunity for Birmingham Moseley Rugby to support this work as well as to welcome rugby fans to the club and show them what we have to offer.”
