The Caribbean’s ultimate epicurean experience is set to make a welcome return to New York City next month after a four-year hiatus triggered by the Covid -19 pandemic.

The CTO Foundation has announced that its flagship event, Rum & Rhythm, is taking place today, Friday, October 11, at Lavan Midtown. Rum & Rhythm, known for its blend of Caribbean cuisine, spirits, and music, serves a dual purpose.

While it offers attendees a taste of the region's rich cultural heritage, it also functions as a crucial fundraiser for the CTO Foundation, which provides educational opportunities for Caribbean nationals in tourism-related fields. Jacqueline Johnson, chair of the CTO Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the event's comeback.

"We are thrilled to announce the return of Rum & Rhythm to New York City. It’s return represents a renewed commitment to nurturing the next generation of tourism professionals in the Caribbean," Johnson said, emphasising the event's significance in supporting students who might otherwise struggle to pursue careers in the tourism industry.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to indulge in a culinary adventure while supporting a noble cause." The evening promises to showcase the diversity of Caribbean culture, featuring an intricate mix of the Dutch, English, French, and Spanish influences that help make the Caribbean a most vibrant region.

Attendees can expect to sample a variety of regional rums, taste dishes prepared by award-winning Caribbean chefs and enjoy performances by notable musicians from various destinations. The event is scheduled to run from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM. Tickets are priced at $200.

The foundation anticipates a high turnout, given the event's popularity in previous years and the pent-up demand following its hiatus. With its combination of gastronomy, mixology, and entertainment, the CTO Foundation aims to provide a comprehensive showcase of what potential visitors can expect from a Caribbean holiday.

As preparations for the October 11 event get under way, the CTO Foundation remains focused on its primary goal: supporting the next generation of Caribbean tourism professionals.
