The FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup continues to throw up stories of ‘romance’, ‘shocks’, ‘tears’ ‘dejection’ and ‘celebrations’ as, following France’s place being the last to be booked for the semi-finals, this has, already, got to be the most open celebration of unpredictability of a tournament that has given loads.

With Morocco making African history, France looking to be the first European nation to retain the trophy, Lionel Messi looking to add that ‘missing link’ in his portfolio of global success and Croatia looking, again, to get the ‘deserves’ for their flowing total football, the tournament is continuing to give ‘loads’ – and there’s more to come!

Morocco became the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final, whilst Croatia ‘out-Braziled’ Brazil, as the star-studded World Cup favourites went out with the tamest of whimpers, the likes of which was hard to comprehend.

Argentina's Lionel Messi is on a mission to win the one elite trophy that has always eluded his grasp. But, for England, their campaign ended in disappointment as they went out in the final quarter-finals tie against the holders, despite pre-match talk of how the Three Lions could stop superstar Kylian Mbappe.

So, it leaves Morocco to face France, and Croatia to play Argentina, for the chance to make their own history
