Sport 4 Life UK has scored a major addition to its team, announcing Birmingham-born basketball star Myles Hesson as its latest ambassador.
In a move that is set to be a real game-changer for young people across the West Midlands, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist is pivoting from the court to the community to help the next generation reach new heights. Recognised internationally for a career that has taken him across the globe, Hesson brings elite-level leadership and resilience to Sport 4 Life UK.
Standing a towering 6ft 6in, he is a seasoned professional who has competed in top-tier leagues in Germany, France, Japan, Lithuania and currently Greece with Mykonos. Now, he is looking to provide a ‘vital assist’ to the Digbeth-headquartered charity’s mission of transforming the lives of 11-29-year-olds through the power of sport.
Hesson is already a local legend following his buzzer-beating heroics at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. In a moment that thrilled his hometown, he sank the overtime winning shot to secure gold for England’s 3×3 team.
As an ambassador, Myles will apply that same winning mentality to mentoring young people, promoting sport as a catalyst for confidence, aspiration and opportunity. His journey from Birmingham grassroots to the global stage embodies the ambition Sport 4 Life UK strives to instil in its beneficiaries.
Myles Hesson commented: "I’m excited to partner with Sport 4 Life UK and support young people in realising their potential through sport and personal development.
“Sport taught me so much about discipline, teamwork and believing in myself, and I’m looking forward to helping a new generation unlock their own opportunities." Rob Wells, Chief Operating Officer at Sport 4 Life UK added: "We are delighted to welcome Myles as an ambassador.
“His achievements on and off the court inspire us all, and his voice will be a powerful force in motivating young people to pursue their goals." Sport 4 Life UK’s ambassadors play a crucial role in amplifying the charity's impact, helping young people to rebound from challenges and move into sustained education, employment and training.
