There’s still time to enrol in classes at Adult Education Wolverhampton ahead of the autumn term.
It is holding a series of open days next week – and is inviting prospective students to come along and discover some of the courses on offer. The open days take place at Old Hall Street, Wolverhampton, on Tuesday 2 September from 10am-7pm, Wednesday 3 September from 10am-4pm, Thursday 4 September from 10am-7pm, Friday 5 September from 10am-3pm and Saturday 6 September from 10am-1pm. All are welcome.
Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, said: “Thousands of people from across the city join a course at Adult Education Wolverhampton every year, and this time it could be you.
“Our courses can give you the skills and qualifications required to get a job, to get a better job, or change your career. Learning something new can also help you gain the transferable skills you need to succeed in life in general by helping to improve your confidence and your health and wellbeing.
“So, if you are thinking about your future, please come along to one of the open days next week to find out what learning opportunities Adult Education Wolverhampton has on offer. Whatever your situation, the open days will give you the chance to speak to friendly and knowledgeable staff who can guide you onto a programme of study at the right level to suit your needs, interests and ambitions.”
Subjects include Access to Higher Education, Skills for Work and Self-employment, English, Maths, Health and Social Care, Computer and Digital Skills, Childcare and Teaching Assistants, Arts Crafts and Creative Media, Floristry, ESOL, BSL and more. Meanwhile, Adult Education Wolverhampton’s GCSE English and maths students performed well again this year.
Among those who were celebrating was Yi Liu who achieved Grade 8 Maths. She said: “My teachers were very supportive and I enjoyed my classes very much. I want to study maths at degree level and go into teaching maths.”
Olga Shipula achieved grades 5 in both GCSE maths and English and has a place on the Access to Higher Education, Health Professions course starting at Adult Education Wolverhampton next month. She said: “I plan to go to university to study and achieve an Operating Department Practitioner qualification.”
Councillor Burden added: "The achievements of our GCSE students are a testament to all their hard work and staff dedication, and yet another example of why Adult Education Wolverhampton is a great place to study."
