Fundraisers are being invited to lace up their walking shoes, don their safari fancy dress and fundraise with a difference, by taking part in St Giles’s annual Solstice Walk on Saturday, 17th June.

This unforgettable 10k adventure around Lichfield welcomes everyone - families, friends, and children are invited to come together to celebrate.

Chloe Hope, Head of Voluntary Income at St Giles Hospice, said: “2023 marks a very special year for St Giles Hospice, celebrating our 40th anniversary. To help celebrate we’re absolutely thrilled to be back with a brand-new theme for 2023 – our Safari Solstice Walk. We invite you to join us for a walk on the wild side around Lichfield at sunset, starting and ending at Lichfield Rugby Club, where we’ll be offering a host of entertainment, refreshments, and of course our beautiful moment of reflection.”

“Our Solstice Walk is one of our most popular fundraising events of the year and always has a really fantastic atmosphere, we guarantee a night to remember. We hope that as many people as possible will get together to take part and raise some much-needed funds for St Giles Hospice at a time when we have never needed our community more.”

A lot of people raising a small amount can make a huge difference to the care we’re able to provide in our community, and the Solstice Walk is a great way to support us while having fun with your family or friends.” Chloe added: “The entry fee only covers the administration cost of the Solstice Walk, so by asking friends and family for sponsorship, you can help us raise vital funds for local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness.

By fundraising for St Giles people can help us to continue to provide care and support today, for the next 40 years and beyond.” Helen Saunderson took part in the Enchanted Solstice Walk in 2022, alongside her husband, two sisters and mum.

Helen said: “We loved the event and found the moment of reflection before the walk incredibly moving and emotional. It really was a magical evening, and we smashed our £200 fundraising target too – raising almost £1,000 between us all!”

She added: “Everyone knows someone who has been impacted by the care that St Giles provides. The hospice touches the lives of so many people and it’s really important to us that we all come together to support St Giles, to ensure it’s here for more local people for years to come.”
