So, the German Christmas Market in Birmingham is now officially opened with many of its main attractions back in full-swing.

Better known as Frankfurt Christmas Market Birmingham, there are 56 stallholders on show in the city this year - this smaller than normal because of Brexit and the Covid pandemic - that spread down New Street while ongoing works are carried out in Victoria Square, which means the sausages are back!

Chalets, bars and the landmark Christmas tree up, lit and ready, the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, the return of the famous ice rink is another welcoming site in the city leading up to Christmas, and there's also the Big Wheel - with panoramic views of Britain's second largest city on offer.

Affiliated with the city of Frankfurt, in Germany, this year, organisers have taken coronavirus into consideration and have taken steps to ensure that the festive market can be enjoyed safely – by all.

The Director of Events for Frankfurt City Council, Kurt Stroscher, said: "Because of Brexit (and Covid-19), all things are much more difficult than in the past.

"That said, though, we are all really happy to be back in Birmingham this year."

Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, Birmingham German Christmas Market is up and ready for 47 days of beer, sausages and lots of family fun.
