Staff and customers at Blakenhall Community and Healthy Living Centre are set to complete the Tour de France – on spin bikes! They are aiming to ride 3,360 kilometres – on 2,088 miles, and the length of this year's world famous race – at the event on Tuesday, and they are inviting people to come down and either take part or cheer them on.

They distance they complete will be added to the Million Miles for Wolverhampton challenge, launched by Wolverhampton City Council’s public health team earlier this year which is calling on residents across the city to collectively walk, run, cycle or swim a million miles.

Councillor Sandra Samuels, Wolverhampton City Council's Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “Cycling is a great form of exercise, easier on the body than running or other high-impact aerobic activities, but one that will still enable people to get into shape.

“I'm absolutely delighted that staff and customers at Blakenhall Community and Healthy Living Centre are challenging themselves to ride the length of the Tour de France and would encourage people to come along and offer their support – or even hop on one of the centre’s spin bikes themselves and complete a mile or two.”

The challenge takes place from 10.30am-5pm on Tuesday and everyone is welcome.
