Rugby fans can now show their support for their team off the field as well as on it through a new partnership with a local insurance broker.

H&H Insurance Brokers (HHIB), which operates throughout the North of England, Scottish Borders and Wales, has teamed up with Carlisle Rugby Club in a unique deal which will help benefit the North One West of Northern Division side every time a supporter takes out a policy with the company.

In addition to recently becoming an affiliated corporate partner of the rugby club, HHIB, whose main headquarters are situated within Harrison & Hetherington Borderway Auction Mart in Carlisle, has added to its portfolio the Carlisle RFC - Affinity Account which will see a percentage of revenue earned by the firm go directly to the club.

Rugby fans wishing to take out a policy with HHIB need to quote ‘CRFC’ and 10 per cent of any income earned by the company through converted leads will be forwarded to the club.

By becoming an affiliated corporate partner of Carlisle RFC, the insurance brokers has also committed to financially support the club on a yearly basis.

Paul Graham, the Managing Director of HHIB, said: “We are delighted to become an affiliated corporate partner of Carlisle Rugby Club and to offer our support to such a great local sports club.

“By introducing the Carlisle RFC - Affinity Account in addition to the partnership deal, we feel this is our way of giving that little bit extra back to the community.

“Basically, the more fans and supporters - or even those who aren’t necessarily fans but want to support their local club - that bring their insurance to us, the more income we will be passing on to the club.

“We know the club has some big plans and wants to expand and grow, and we want to help out in every way possible.

“It would be easy for us just to put some money forward in terms of a sponsorship package but we want to go further than that and introduce something which could really have a big impact on the club’s fortunes.”

HHIB has been trading for more than 30 years and offers a wide range of bespoke insurance products for farmers, agricultural contractors and rural businesses.

All at Carlisle RFC are grateful for the support from HHIB and the potential benefits the partnership will bring.

The club’s fundraising and partnerships manager, Barry Earl, said: “We are always on the lookout for commercial partners, and we were delighted to see Paul Graham’s enthusiasm to help when we met.

“It just feels like the perfect fit; it will help raise awareness and attract more business for HHIB and it will certainly help boost the funding pots at Carlisle RFC.

“We were pleased HHIB agreed to become an affiliated corporate sponsor but we were over the moon when they came up with the Affinity Account as that will really be a benefit to our club as a whole.

“Having this incentive will hopefully encourage more of our supporters and members to deal with HHIB as every policy taken out will help the club towards our funding goals to refurbish the clubhouse or invest in training equipment to improve performance on the field at all levels throughout the club.”

“We look forward to a long and successful partnership with HHIB.”

Carlisle RFC, based on the city’s Warwick Road, caters for rugby players of both sexes from the age of six right through to adults.

The club relies on the dedication of volunteer coaches and players, and is indebted to the community for financial support.
