March is Virgin Islands History Month – a time to celebrate the rich heritage, resilience, and cultural contributions of the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

From the legacies of our ancestors to the achievements of today’s generation of leaders, Virgin Islands history is a testament to strength, perseverance, and a deep sense of identity. As Teri Helenese (pic), USVI State-Federal Relations and Washington Representative, remembers: “Virgin Islands History Month is a time to reflect on the sacrifices and contributions of our forebears – those who paved the way and moulded us into who we are today.

“Honouring their legacy means not only remembering their impact but also carrying it forward for future generations.” This month, Island nationals are reminded to honour their past, celebrate their present, and commit to building a future that uplifts and empowers the people of the Virgin Islands.
