A cohort of 41 athletes have been offered membership to the Paralympic World Class Programme (WCP) for 2025/26.

The Paralympic WCP, funded by UK Sport’s National Lottery-funded initiative, supports the preparation and success of athletes aiming for the Paralympic Games and other major international championships. The programme operates across three tiers — Podium, Podium Potential, and Confirmation — which reflect both current performance levels and long-term medal prospects. Athletes are nominated when they demonstrate a realistic ability to reach the podium at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games or, for some, at the 2032 Games.

Those selected receive further support and competition opportunities, along with specialist input from UK Athletics’ performance, sports science, and medical teams. Athletes also receive an Athlete Performance Award, helping support their sporting and training needs.

As in previous years, all nominations for the WCP are subject to UK Sport ratification and the completion of a signed athlete agreement between the athlete and UK Athletics. Katie Jones, Head of the UKA Paralympic programme, said: “We are hugely thankful to UK Sport and The National Lottery for their ongoing investment in the Paralympic World Class Programme.

“Their support is vital and enables us to remain among the world’s leading nations in para-athletics. Following the outstanding performances at the World Para Athletics Championships, it’s exciting to welcome new athletes into the programme, many of whom have progressed through our Futures pathway.

“This backing truly matters. It ensures our para-athletes have the strongest possible preparation for major Championships and helps us continue building momentum as we work towards the LA 2028 Paralympic Games and beyond.”
