From his chart-dominating time in JLS to his solo smash ‘Get Stupid’ and a sensational star run on ‘The Masked Singer’, Aston Merrygold has proved to be one of the UK’s most popular personalities. Having returned to Radio 1’s airwaves earlier this year with ‘Share A Coke’, Aston now shares an attention grabbing new song ‘Emergency’.

‘Emergency’ brings a soundsystem of energising elements into a track that sparkles with summertime spirit. It’s got the rhythmic mix of dancehall, and those pop flavours are revealed via a dash of ultra-addictive hooks that hint at JLS’s chart-conquering years. As ever, Aston’s vocal magic is essential to unlocking the track’s potential, with his enlivening mix of Motown soul and bold British personality.

A songwriter with countless hits to his credit, Aston wrote ‘Emergency’ with Oliver King. It was subsequently produced by Crumz, whose recent credits include Not3s, S1mba and Boity.

“Summer is finally here! So I thought no better way to celebrate than to give the people the summer jam emergency! I’ve had this song a little while so you can’t imagine how happy I am that people are now able to hear it and have it!” says Aston.

‘Emergency’ is accompanied by a video that captures the song’s breezy fun factor. Directed by Aston himself, it starts with a vision of Aston and his friends some twenty years into the future, still arguing about Aston cheating at dominoes even though they’re old enough to now sport white beards. It then cuts to the present day, with Aston leading the captivating choreography that’s become a hallmark of his career.

Aston first come to prominence alongside his friends in JLS, as they amassed five UK #1 hits, another five Top 10 singles and five hit albums. They’re set to embark upon one of the biggest UK tours of 2021 when they play 29 arena shows, commencing in Glasgow on October 20th. Their first tour since 2013 includes four nights at The O2 in London.

Despite the group’s hiatus, Aston has remained in the spotlight. ‘Get Stupid’ kicked-off his solo career in style with millions of streams. He then embarked upon a variety of high profile ventures, notably competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’; starring in the West End production of ‘Rip It Up’; judging the talent show ‘Got To Dance’; and acting in the CBBC comedy-drama ‘Almost Never’.

His scintillating performances of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ and Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ were among the highlights of his run to the final of ‘The Masked Singer’. Reaching a peak audience of 10.6 million, the competition helped boost his social media following to 1.5 million people.
