Walsall College Beauty students received a lesson in the art of thai massage from an experienced beautician with over 14 years in the industry. Donna-Marie, owner of Fabulous Dahhlin Beauty in Walsall, visited the college to pass on her expert tips to Level 1, 2 and 3 students. She showed students how to give the increasingly popular thai massage, a deep tissue treatment which uses forearm and elbow techniques to apply pressure on certain points of the body.

Walsall College’s Curriculum Manager for Beauty, Joanne Small said: “The beauty industry is constantly changing so it’s important for students to keep up with the latest trends to help ensure they are prepared and have the right skills that employers are looking for.

“Students receive a number of industry masterclasses throughout the year as learning from Beauty therapists currently working in the sector is a fantastic way to see real industry skills being used in practice. This complements their classroom based lessons and own experience working in the college salon and on placements.”

In addition, Donna talked about her passion for the beauty industry as well as the success she has had with her business. She also gave students an insight in to the skills and qualities she looks for when recruiting new staff and answered questions on how she set up and markets her business.

Student, Amman Sunner, said: “I found the class and Donna really inspiring. It was great to learn a new treatment that is really popular at the moment.”
