Theon Design has unveiled its latest bespoke Porsche 911 (964) commission – a fully re-engineered, carbon-bodied coupe built around a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six producing 421 bhp.

The car was created in close collaboration with its owner, with every aspect of its specification, dynamic character and driving experience tailored to their individual requirements. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive configuration, the car delivers a focused yet adaptable driving experience, supported by TracTive semi-active suspension and a front axle lift system. At 1,146 kg, the car achieves a power-to-weight ratio exceeding that of a current 992.2 GT3, while retaining the analogue character central to Theon’s philosophy.

A study in contrast: Finished in Crayon Grey with Lizard Green accents, the latest Theon Design commission explores contrast through restraint rather than excess. The full carbon fibre body is complemented by smoked front and rear light lenses, while brushed Eclipse exterior brightwork and a matching ‘Turbonite’ Porsche bonnet crest introduce a more contemporary surface treatment.

Seventeen-inch wheels, finished in Anthracite and Black, sit over RS brake callipers in Lizard Green – a deliberate, controlled disruption within an otherwise neutral palette. As with all Theon commissions to date, steel doors are retained to preserve the familiar tactility of a classic 911, maintaining a connection to the original car beneath the surface.

Performance, defined by calibration: At its core is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six, producing 421 bhp and 324 ft lbs of torque. Managed via a MoTeC ECU and PDM system, the engine features carbon fibre tinware and carbon-infused intake trumpets, paired with a drive-by-wire throttle offering selectable modes – from Town through to Race, plus a further 'Raucus' mode, which allows full power, lifts the spoiler and adds a loud exhaust tone with pops and bangs – allowing the character of the car to be tailored to its environment.

TracTive semi-active suspension, adjustable across five settings, enables a broad dynamic range, from compliant road use to more focused performance driving. Each system is calibrated specifically for the client, ensuring the car responds in line with their preferences rather than a fixed standard. This level of personalisation extends far beyond colour and trim. Engine response, suspension behaviour, steering feel and overall vehicle character are all carefully developed around each client, ensuring every Theon feels as individual to drive as it is to look at.

Material clarity inside: The interior continues the same design and colour pallet approach as the exterior, combining carbon fibre architecture with carefully selected materials and finishes. Carbon fibre panels are hand-trimmed in Liquorice leather, with subtle Lizard Green stitching running across the shoulder of the interior. Recaro RS seats follow the same restrained treatment, while bespoke aluminium footboards and machined door handles, vents and dashboard inserts introduce a precise, tactile contrast.

Instrument gauges are uniquely configured, with colour-matched detailing in Crayon and Lizard Green, reinforcing the coherence of the overall design. Technology is present, but restrained. An original Becker Mexico head unit is paired with a Hertz amplifier and six Focal speakers, while a carbon fibre centre console integrates wireless charging and a discreet phone extension.

Built as a singular object: Each Theon commission is developed over approximately 6,000 hours, shaped through close collaboration between client and studio. From initial concept discussions through to final calibration and delivery, owners work closely with Theon to create a car that reflects their personal tastes, driving preferences and intended use.

Built in Oxfordshire, at the heart of the UK's renowned Motorsport Valley, every Theon combines traditional craftsmanship with technologies and suppliers more commonly associated with Formula One and aerospace industries. Carbon fibre components are produced using motorsport-derived processes, while lightweight aerospace-grade electrical systems help reduce weight and improve reliability.

Production remains deliberately limited. In 2026, only six clients worldwide will take delivery of a new Theon commission, ensuring every project receives the attention, development time and individual focus it deserves. This car reflects this process – not as a collection of selected options, but as a resolved, cohesive design outcome, where design, engineering and use case are considered together.

Theon Design continues to produce a limited number of cars annually from its Oxfordshire facility, with each build representing a unique interpretation of the air-cooled 911. “Every Theon commission reflects the person it’s built for, and this car is a particularly good example of that,” says Theon Design Founder, Adam Hawley.

“While the air-cooled 911 remains at its core, the brief pushed us towards something more contemporary in its appearance, materials and character. The Crayon Grey and Lizard Green palette, the smoked lighting, and the more technical surface finishes give the car a very modern presence, but without losing the restraint and simplicity that make the original 911 so enduring. For us, the challenge is always finding the right balance between evolution and respect.

“The best Theon commissions don't look backwards or forwards. They feel timeless. This car has a more contemporary character than many of our previous builds, but every decision was made with the same objective: to continue the philosophy of the air-cooled 911 in the most considered way possible."
