Five members of Action for Blind People's Senior Management Team to climb three mountains in 24 hours. A team of five from sight loss charity, Action for Blind People, will be taking on the remarkable challenge of climbing three of the UK's highest mountains to raise money for one of the charity's vital services. Kyla Townsend from Birmingham will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in 24 hours with her colleagues Mike Thornicroft, Paul Morrison, Tom Reck and Carolyn Fletcher. The team will be raising money for Action for Blind People's Children, Young People and Families service.

The charity's Children, Young People and Families service provides a wide range of opportunities and support for blind and partially sighted children, young people and their families.

The Hike4Sight team will start their challenge at 4pm on Thursday 23 June 2016 when they climb Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands. After a five and a half hour climb, they will have the chance to rest on the minibus to Scafell Pike in the Lake District, before they take on their second ascent.

The team will climb through the night, and embark on their final journey to Mount Snowdon, Wales at 7am on Friday 24 June 2016. They're aiming to reach the top of Snowdon by 4pm that day.

Kyla Townsend, who is based in Birmingham and works as Action for Blind People's Deputy Concept Team Leader, says: "The work of our Children, Young People and Families Service is so inspiring, we felt that we should show our support and lead by example, taking on what will be a huge personal challenge for all of us.

"We are aiming to raise £1,500 for this incredible service. We hope people will support us in reaching our target, or even beating it!"

Emma Douglas, RNIB's Area Fundraising Manager for the North West, said: "It's great to see so many Action for Blind People staff taking part in such an amazing challenge to support the Children, Young People and Families service. It will hopefully inspire others to do the same, and I wish them the very best of luck."
