Residents are being invited to come along and find out about cancer services when the Black Country Integrated Care System cancer bus calls at Queen Square, Wolverhampton, next Wednesday (11 September 2024).

Staff from the City of Wolverhampton Council's public health team and NHS staff from across the Black Country will be available between 9.30am and 4pm to speak to members of the public while representatives of MacMillan Cancer Support will be on hand offering help and advice for people living with and beyond cancer. People will be able to get information on how to check for symptoms of cancer and what to do if they have any concerns.

There will an opportunity to try interactive body parts to help people check themselves, while cancer nurses will be on hand to answer any questions people may have. There will be information about the three main NHS screening programmes, for breast, bowel and cervical cancer, including when people will be invited and what's involved in the screening.

And from 10am to 3pm visitors can check their health with a free blood pressure and blood sugar test. Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "This is part of a series of events taking place across the region, and I would encourage anyone who has any questions about the signs and symptoms of cancer, screening, diagnosis and treatment to come along to speak to our friendly staff."
