Carvers Building Supplies has cemented their support for Wolverhampton’s new Youth Zone – The Way to the tune of £75,000 over three years. The Way is set to open in January 2016 and this further Founder Patron backing will help support the £1m a year Youth Zone running costs.
Carvers’ Managing Director Henry Carver was joined by MP for Wolverhampton South West, Rob Marris as well as Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for City Economy for a photo shoot to celebrate the support.
Henry Carver, Managing Director of Carvers said: “Carvers is delighted to be supporting The Way. Young people are the future business men and women of today and we feel strongly that supporting their development in a positive environment is crucial. It is an exciting time for the city of Wolverhampton and we are pleased to be supporting this project alongside the City of Wolverhampton Council and the other dedicated Founder Patrons.”
Councillor John Reynolds, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: “I am delighted that a prominent local business such as Carvers Building Supplies is showing its support for this fantastic new development, and I’d like to thank Henry Carver and his team for making this important investment in our young people’s future.”
The Way’s Development Manager, Philippa Gregory said: “We are hugely thankful to Carvers’ for its support. Founder Patron support is crucial to the sustainability of the Youth Zone and this backing will help give the young people of Wolverhampton a safe and inspiring place to spend their leisure time.”
Underpinning the revenue funding from The Way’s Founder Patrons is £5.5 million of capital investment from The Morgan Foundation, The Queen’s Trust, St James’s Place Foundation, Sport England, Garfield Weston, Football Foundation, B E Wedge Holdings Ltd and Keltruck.
The City of Wolverhampton Council is also investing more than £3m in The Way towards the development costs.
