People who care for a friend or relative can find out about the support available to them during this year's Carers Rights Day on Friday 20 November, 2015. The charity Omega is holding a free outreach and information session at Beckminster Church, Birches Barn Road, from 10.30am-2pm, with a host of organisations on hand to highlight the help available to carers.
During the event, Tom Denham from the City of Wolverhampton Council will be talking about employment opportunities for people with disabilities, while Linda Turner from Macmillan Cancer Support will be detailing the help the charity can provide to people living with cancer.
Representatives from the University of Wolverhampton and Life Direct will be speaking about the support they can offer at the event, which also features information stands from organisations including the council's Carer Support Team, Alzheimer’s Society, Creative Support, Empowering U, Headway, Leonard Cheshire, Progress Care and Wolverhampton's Healthy Lifestyles Team.

Councillor Elias Mattu, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adults, said: "Having the right information at the right time can make a huge difference when you are looking after someone.
“We don't want carers to think they have to struggle on their own – there is help and support out there, whether it be emotional, financial or practical help, and so it's really important that people take this opportunity to find out more about what agencies including our Carer Support Team can do to help."
