Birmingham based Muay Thai World Champion, Dean James defeated experienced Frenchman, Hakim Hamech, with a dominant display at Muay Thai Grand Prix 3 at the Indigo O2, London. Three-time World Champion James put on a Muay Thai masterclass from the first round, filled with his trademark knee strikes and clinch drills. He sealed the win by way of unanimous decision.

The TankoManagement.co.uk athlete added to an already impressive list of scalps with this victory (which include Amine Kacem of Nasser Gym and Thailand’s Rungravee Saspiprapa), taking his fight record to 21 wins from 26 contests.

Dean James commented: “The win wasn’t as easy as it looked as I damaged my leg during the fight – but I was never going to give in. My focus was to score high and make sure I was striking well with jabs, kicks and elbows, as well as putting in some strong knee strikes.

“I’ve been training hard at the FA Group camp in Thailand and in the gym with my coach, Tony Myers to make sure my technique and approach is as tight as possible.

“The aim is to be able to face any fighter in my weight category, and push myself to new heights both mentally and physically. I will take the learnings from this fight and incorporate Hakim’s European fighting style into my training, which will help me as I face even tougher opponents in the future”.
