Derby’s Focus is FORMAT

The wide range of projects on display at FORMAT17 are connected by the theme ‘HABITAT’ – exploring landscape, environment, mobility, migration, digital worlds, ideas of home and displacement, conflict and regeneration through the work of international photographers and artists.

Amongst them, People, Places, and Faces: The W. W. Winter’s Archive, at Derby Museum and Art Gallery from March 24 to June 11, combines early studio photography from 1854 onwards – with a focus on the collection of W.W. Winter’s Studio Derby, one of the oldest running studios in the world – with a precious piece of local history.

The 2015 festival welcomed over 100,000 visitors from all over the world.  This year’s event will once again feature more than 30 of Derby’s most beautiful buildings and key landmarks including: QUAD, University of Derby, Derby Museum & Art Gallery, Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Sites, Market Place and satellite venues in nearby cities.
