Ludhiana-born Neena Gill, who was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999 was named in the New Year’s honour list and is to be awarded a CBE by her majesty the queen for her contributions to Politics in a ceremony later this year.

I am delighted to celebrate the many successes of the Indian Diaspora in Britain and across the world. Throughout the country, we have played our part in this success story and I hope we will continue to make India, Britain and the Indian community proud.
