The usually still waters of the Negombo lagoon played host to an event quite unlike any other, with thrills, spills, laughter and much fun. Jet Water Sports began its operations at the picturesque Jetwing Lagoon in grand fashion, with the opening of the first water sports center to be situated in a lagoon.

From 11am onwards, guests participated in an opening ceremony that began with speeches by Thilanga Sumathipala, Managing Director of Jet Water Sports and Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing. Followed by a presentation and demonstration about the numerous water activities available, the attendees were in for a real treat – to actually participate in the activities themselves!

Many embraced the chance, queuing up for banana boat rides, water skiing, wakeboarding, and jet skiing whilst a regular schedule of speedboat rides kept the others entertained. All these activities along with others such as courses in skiing, boat ride excursions to popular sites such as the Negombo harbor, Hamilton Canal and the Muthurajawela wetland will be available at the hotel at attractive rates.

Speaking at the event, Hiran Cooray stressed on the unique aspects of Jetwing Lagoon by saying that “ever since we launched the resort, we have kept adding in dimensions to the property that have seen immense success – beginning with the beautiful beach and lounge area opposite the hotel, the newly developed Ayurveda spa, and now water sports. We look forward to seeing this fresh venture thrive, and to be popular with all our guests as well as those who visit Negombo”.
