Lofoten Links, one of the world's most northerly courses, has announced that visitors will now have the opportunity to stay in one of the most uniquely positioned golf resorts on the planet as it launches a range of accommodation in the beautiful setting of the Lofoten Islands. Managed by Troon, the leader in upscale golf course management and development, Lofoten Links, in Norway, sits 95 miles north of the Arctic Circle at 68 degrees latitude and can provide every visitor an experience of a lifetime, whether golfing under the Midnight Sun and teeing off 24 hours a day during the summer months or enjoying the Northern Lights, visible from late August until April.
Potential residents can choose between the newly opened lodges and apartments. The cosy Lofoten Links Lodges, which are set next to Hov Beach, around 1km from the course itself, have three or four bedrooms, kitchens, spacious lounges with fireplaces and terraces with sea views. Prices for the Lofoten Links Lodges start from 550 Norwegian Krone (around €58) per person per night, based on six people sharing a four-bedroom Deluxe Standard Lodge.
The Lofoten Links Apartments range between one and three bedrooms, and are situated nearer the links itself. Guests can look forward to golf course or ocean views, plus kitchenettes, living rooms and shower rooms. Lofoten Links Apartments start from 495 Krone per person (around €52), based on two sharing.
Lofoten Links is offering special golf and accommodation packages to coincide with 24-hour golf and the Northern Lights. Meals for all accommodation guests can be arranged to be taken at the clubhouse, with the added possibility of breakfast served at their door.
“We are delighted to open accommodation at Lofoten Links and it marks an exciting new chapter in our history,” commented Frode Hov, Managing Director at Lofoten Links. “Our mesmerising location lends itself perfectly to an idyllic getaway and many of our visitors in the past fed back to us that they would love to be able to stay close to the golf course. So we decided to create our lodges and apartments and are looking forward to offering our visitors the full package of golf, hospitality and accommodation.”
“So many golf courses claim to be ground-breaking, yet Lofoten Links is that and so much more. Not only are the surroundings visually stunning, but its location relative to the Arctic Circle means that it truly offers golfers a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” commented Bruce Glasco, Vice-President and Managing Director, Troon International Operations. “The new accommodation will make the resort even more enticing for both golf aficionados and adventurous travellers alike and we are looking forward to continuing our work with Lofoten Links to help promote this fantastic new offering around the world.”
The lodges are the perfect base camp for a range of outdoor activities and the absolute best spot to observe the northern lights. The lodges have clear views to the north and the open sea, where the Northern Lights appear.
Whatever the time of year, the facility's wild location between the Atlantic and the jagged Lofoten Mountains makes it one for every traveller's bucket list. A visit to Lofoten Links is not just for golfers - it also means the chance to ride Icelandic horses, try spectacular hikes or kayaking and, in winter, cross-country skiing. Photo safaris are also a major attraction for the growing number of visitors to the area, as well as the many visible reminders of Lofoten's Viking history.
