Wolverhampton Grand Theatre are on board as this year’s headline sponsor for the city’s Vaisakhi celebrations at West Park.

The popular cultural festival returns to West Park on Sunday 5 May between 12pm and 5pm. The Council of Sikh Gurdwaras in Wolverhampton has promised entertainment for all the family, including a fun fair, stalls and prominent Asian musicians and singers performing live on stage.

There will be speeches by religious leaders, a variety of local organisations will showcase their services and free food will also be served throughout the day. Entry is also free. Vicky Price, Associate Director said: “We are delighted to be headline sponsor for the Vaisakhi Mela.

“At the Grand Theatre, we take our position in the community very seriously as a theatre for all to enjoy, express and celebrate. This year we look forward to welcoming the premiere tour of ‘Frankie Goes To Bollywood’, an incredible new musical celebration which we are proud to be presenting alongside a programme of work with the South Asian community and our South Asian ambassador group.

“Together, we will celebrate Vaisakhi on Sunday 5 May and look forward to sharing the event with everyone.” Ian Fegan, Director of City Economy and Partnerships said: “It’s great to have The Grand come onboard as sponsors for this year’s Vaisakhi celebrations.

“I would encourage all to come along and join in the celebrations at this free, family-friendly event.” More information on musical ‘Frankie Goes to Bollywood’ coming to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this June is on the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre website.
