Councillor SImon Hackett, cabinet member for children's services was at the launch of a new resource at the Oldbury Library, in a bid to keep children safe as part of the Children’s safety in the Home scheme, with subjects ranging from dangerous dogs, sun and water safety to eating harmful poisons (liquid-tabs) and choking.

Based on Dog, Duck and Cat, the new programme has been well received in local children centres and libraries and it is hoped to roll this programme out further across Sandwell. The Home Safety Scheme, featuring Prickles the hedgehog, has been well received in local schools is expected to be popular with more children across Sandwell. 

Councillor Hackett said: "This is a fantastic scheme and as a parent of a young child I am aware of how important it is to keep children safe in the home. The performance was very enjoyable and I know many other young children will benefit from the programme and reading the books”.
