Geysers, glaciers and a glittering ice cave are all waiting to be discovered on this NEW winter holiday in Iceland. With its volcanic landscape and Viking roots this country is unlike anything else in Europe – similar to it's football team, this island is an explosion of experiences! After a welcoming first night in Reykjavik you start this action-packed adventure with a tour of the famous 'Golden Circle', a collection of natural (and man-made) phenomena. You will go to Thingvellir, where Iceland's first parliament was located alongside the country's biggest lake. Here, you can stand astride the Mid-Atlantic Ridge with one foot on the North Atlantic tectonic plate and the other on the Eurasian plate! The geothermal area of Geysir and the spectacular waterfall of Gullfoss are also on the tick-list, before you drive east on the south coast 'ring road' to spend 2 nights at a hotel near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. From here, you'll travel on to the amazing, iceberg-choked Glacier Lagoon at Jokulsarlon, site of 2 James Bond films. There are lots of great photo opportunities at Jokulsarlon and you also have the chance to explore into the glittering ice caves at the edge of the glacier inland of the lagoon. Heading back to Reykjavik, you'll stop off for a guided walk on the ice of the Solheimajokull Glacier and also take time out to experience the black sand beaches, pounding Atlantic waves and impressive waterfalls which are a feature of Iceland's south coast.

“Iceland is a special place, like nowhere in Europe and in winter, its uniqueness is intensified. Understanding how the Iceland people have coped to live on this wild island is quite inspiring and clearly their resilience has helped them succeed, both economically and in the Euros!” - Kit Wilkinson, Product Manager
