2014 world heptathlon number one Katarina Johnson-Thompson will be one of a number of reigning British champions who will look to defend their titles at the Sainsbury’s Indoor British Championships, which take place on February 14 and 15.

With the added incentive of selection for the European Indoor Championships in Prague being at stake, many of GB & NI’s top athletes are expected to line up at the Sheffield’s EIS.

Johnson-Thompson broke the British high jump record as she cleared 1.96m at the 2014 Sainsbury’s Indoor British Championships and will contest the same event again, where she will face new outdoor British record holder Isobel Pooley and current world junior champion Morgan Lake .

The 22-year-old Liverpool Harrier, who led the world heptathlon rankings despite suffering an injury last summer, returned to action in her first competition for six months with strong performances in the long jump, hurdles and shot put at the Northern Championships in January.

Meanwhile Pooley has been in excellent form already during 2015, setting an indoor personal best of 1.92m in Germany last week, and Lake, also a multi-events specialist, set a pentathlon personal best with 4448 points in France and boasts an outdoor personal best of 1.94m for the high jump.

Johnson-Thompson will also compete in the 60m hurdles, an event in which she equalled her personal best of 8.40 last month.
