Birmingham 2022, the organisers of this summer’s Commonwealth Games, has issued a reminder that the search for 20 talented local people to be part of the Games as In Venue Hosts and Announcers ends on 6 March. The successful applicants will be able to kick start a career in sports presentation, carrying out roles which will involve them engaging with the thousands of spectators expected to fill each of the official competition venues this summer.

The successful applicants will not only be provided with full training and support, but during the Games they will also have the chance to learn from a hugely experienced team, rubbing shoulders with presenting professionals who will be the perfect mentors. Applicants need to be professional, confident, and enthusiastic and they also need to meet the following criteria:

·         Aged 18 or over

·         Live, work or study in Birmingham and/or the West Midlands

·         Available for the full duration of the competition and rehearsal days (Birmingham 2022 will be held from 28 July until 8 August)

·         Committed to attending training workshops which will be held in late June and early July

TV presenter, Radzi Chinyanganya, who was part of a similar talent search ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games, is encouraging young people from across the region to apply: "Whilst I was at University, London 2012 announced they were going to have live Sport Presentation and the presenters they wanted didn’t necessarily have to have any experience."

"I thought it was too good to be true but I applied and not only was it the most enjoyable ten days of my life, but it confirmed that I absolutely wanted to present for a living. Having had that experience, it meant that I was taken seriously."

"Anyone who gets the opportunity to even apply, it’s a total no brainer – you must do it.  It will potentially change the game. The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is going to be unforgettable."

You can apply for these roles now by submitting a short audition video. Please go to https://www.birmingham2022.com/jobs/in-venue-hosts-announcers for more details. Applications are open until 23:59 on 6 March 2022.
