UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) West Midlands is holding a culture and language masterclass for businesses wanting to export to Mexico and the Spanish-speaking Latin America region. The masterclass on Thursday, January 14, is designed to introduce businesses to cultural attitudes, business style and key phrases. Mexico, which is one the world’s top 15 economies, is the West Midlands’ largest trading partner in the Spanish speaking region, with exports of goods there where worth £130.7 million in 2014 – an increase of 50% over the last three years.
The UKTI session is being held at the National Metal Forming Centre (NMC), Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, and will cover etiquette and dress code, business ethics and protocol, as well as basic language such as greetings, addressing people, and numbers.
Gerti Willis, language and culture adviser at UK Trade and Investment West Midlands, said:
“Spanish-speaking Latin America is a region worth looking at by UK businesses and being able to break through language barriers and cultural challenges can be the key to a successful business relationship. Our business culture masterclasses give an in-depth overview of the history, morals and ethics.”
The session at the NMC, Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, runs from 9am-1pm. For more information, contact Gerti Willison 0121 607 1942 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
