The Birmingham office of national law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has announced its charity of the year for 2017 will be Sport 4 Life, an organisation committed to positive change for some of the region’s disadvantaged young people. Currently celebrating its 10th anniversary, Sport 4 Life is the leading youth and sports charity in Birmingham. Founded in 2006 as a small community project in Ladywood, Sport 4 Life has developed into an important charity, dedicated to changing the lives of Birmingham’s most disadvantaged young people through the power of sport.

As part of the charity partnership, staff at Clarke Willmott will support the organisation through raising vital funds and volunteering with the charity. More than that, lawyers and staff hope to contribute directly by providing mentoring support, job interview workshops, and help with drafting CVs.

Jonathan Morton, Head of the Birmingham office of Clarke Willmott, said: “We have a real commitment to social responsibility amongst the partners and staff here in our Birmingham office, and our staff voted overwhelmingly to choose Sport 4 Life as our charity of the year for 2017.

“Sport 4 Life supports young people who may lack positive role models or aspirations and encourages them to make positive changes through its sports-themed educational programmes.

“Our involvement will not only include us doing our very best to raise as much money as we can for the charity, but our staff are allowed to use some of their working time to volunteer in the communities in which we work and live.

“Our staff will be using their business skills to help the young people supported by Sport 4 Life to develop their CVs, to come and visit us for job interview workshops and to mentor people in their journey towards work, training or education.”

Tom Clarke-Forrest, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Sport 4 Life, said: "We are delighted to be chosen as Clarke Willmott's COTY in Birmingham for 2017.

“This partnership is about so much more than money - we will use the firm's skills and experience to help us as an organisation, but more importantly, to support our young people towards a better future.

“We're convinced this partnership will increase our impact in the city, and we're very excited for the year ahead."

Clarke Willmott will be hosting a number of events, the first of which is their annual charitable quiz on 6th February 2017, followed by table tennis tournaments, sponsored activities, and dress down days, in the hope of raising thousands of pounds for Sport 4 Life, alongside using their business knowledge to help young people develop their own skills.
