Award-winning rapper and hometown hero Wretch 32 will turn Tottenham festive next week as he switches on the Christmas lights at Haringey Council’s free Winter Festival. The bestselling artist, who grew up in the area’s Tiverton Estate, will be joined by Spurs legend Ledley King for the big switch-on at the family event on Tottenham Green on Saturday, 5 December.

A packed programme of activities will run from 12-6pm, with highlights including a children’s disco, fun parade along the High Road, live music performances and even a special appearance from Santa and his team of elves.

And as part of the council’s support for Small Business Saturday, Tottenham Green Market will run throughout the day, offering a range of the area’s finest independent food, drink and crafts as Christmas gift ideas.

At neighbouring Holy Trinity Church, a pop-up gift shops and children’s play day will run during the afternoon.

Councillor Alan Strickland, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, said:

“The Winter Festival is always one of the most popular events on the festive calendar, so it’s fantastic to have one of Tottenham’s home-grown talents coming to switch on our Christmas lights.

“With great local entertainment and a market showcasing the best Tottenham has to offer, I’d recommend residents join us to start the Christmas countdown with a bang.”

Tottenham’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm. Visit the Tottenham Winter Festival page for more information and a full programme.
