A new Armed Forces Hub held its first drop-in session at Wolverhampton's Central Library on Thursday 4 June, 2026, offering a welcoming space for serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families.
The hub, delivered by STEPWAY CIO working alongside the City of Wolverhampton Council and a wide range of local partners, brings together local services, charities and community organisations in one place, making it easier for members of the Armed Forces community to get help, advice and support. Neil Binder, from STEPWAY CIO, said: “Too often, veterans and families are passed from service to service, and it can feel like hard work just figuring out where to start.
“What we’ve tried to do with the Armed Forces Hub is make things simpler for people. Through the hub, we can have that first conversation, really understand what’s going on, and then connect people directly into the right support. It’s about working together properly, so people feel supported rather than signposted.
“The first meeting went very well. We met with a veteran who has recently set up a fitness company. He asked about connecting with other veterans and we were able to share details about some of the support available in Wolverhampton, including 'Banter & Brews' and the Wolverhampton Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club.
“We also had visitors from The Sanctuary Hub and Rethink and discussed how they can support veterans, along with potential training they can deliver to their staff on how best to work with veterans. We look forward to engaging with more veterans in the future and creating more collaborative working partnerships with organisations across the city.”
Councillor Craig Collingswood, Chair of the Wolverhampton Armed Forces Covenant Board, added: “The Armed Forces Hub is about making sure that the people who serve our country – and the families who stand alongside them – know they have support here in Wolverhampton.”
People can access the Armed Forces Hub on the first Thursday of every month from 1-4pm at Central Library.
