Exciting improvements have been made to the swimming facilities at Risca Leisure Centre, with the installation of a brand-new water activity wall and infant slide, enhancing the experience for young swimmers and families.

The new features, installed by Hippo Leisure and funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UK SPF), are designed to encourage water confidence and active play among young swimmers. Councillor Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “These fantastic new additions to Risca Leisure Centre will provide more opportunities for young children to enjoy the water in a fun and safe environment.

“Investing in our leisure facilities ensures that families can continue to benefit from high-quality, inclusive swimming experiences.” The water activity wall, introduces interactive elements that challenge and entertain young swimmers, while the infant slide provides a safe and exciting introduction to water play, making the pool even more welcoming for younger children and their families.

Initial feedback from visitors has been excellent, with many parents praising the new features for making swimming more engaging and enjoyable for their children. The improvements have already led to an increase in younger swimmers using the facility, helping to build water confidence from an early age.

These improvements align with the Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Sport and Active Recreation Strategy, which aims to create high-quality, accessible, and sustainable leisure opportunities for residents of all ages.
