The UK government will invest around £60 million of underspend from the Birmingham 2022 budget in the West Midlands to enhance the legacy of the brilliant Commonwealth Games hosted earlier this year. The fund will aim to increase access to sport and culture, boost the West Midlands’s reputation as a world-class host for major events and drive inward investment and tourism.

Warwickshire County Cricket Club and Birmingham City Council have formally launched a bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund for a new Masterplan to transform Edgbaston Stadium and support the surrounding community.

It was announced that former international umpire Asad Rauf has died after a cardiac arrest in Pakistan. He first officiated in a one-day international in 2000, and was a member of the International Cricket Council's elite panel between 2006 and 2013.
