Qatar Airways is celebrating 100 days to go until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by bringing Qatar to fans through ‘The Journey Tour’, an interactive bus tour across Europe providing several lucky winners with a chance to attend the world’s biggest sporting tournament this winter.

Kicking off in London on 13 August, Qatar Airways will host ‘The Journey Tour,’ which will feature several interactive experiences for fans, including the opportunity to test their skills against the incredibly talented Neymar Jr., to learn more about the history of Qatar and the FIFA World Cup, and to meet Sama, the first-ever MetaHuman cabin crew.

UK Athletics can confirm that Anna Purchase has been added to the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the European Championships, while there have been some further changes to the squad for Munich. 

Purchase moved to second on the UK all-time standings in the women’s hammer earlier this year when she threw 70.63m in California in April. She joins Jessica Mayho and Charlotte Payne in the competition.

With the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in full swing, we take a look back at the final days leading up to the sport, as the Queen’s Baton Relay took centre stage, connecting with communities through the host region of the West Midlands.

The regional tour was made even more significant as it represented the Queen’s Baton returning home, as it was designed and manufactured in an innovative West Midlands collaboration that fused art, technology, and science.

Marfa Ekimova made history for England by winning their first ever gold medal in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around final at the Commonwealth Games, scoring 112.300 overall.

The 17-year-old led from the start, top-scoring in the hoop and clubs. An exciting final went to the wire with Cyprus' Anna Sokolova chasing Ekimova's score until the final discipline.

Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah added Commonwealth 100m gold to her collection in a time of 10.95 seconds.

The five-time Olympic champion was clean away and immediately up on England's Daryll Neita, who ran a personal best 10.90 in the semi-finals, before ending up with bronze.

Coventry-based boxing apparel company BOXRAW have kitted out the Anguilla team participating at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. In a game-changing donation, BOXRAW stepped in to provide top-quality training and competition kit for the Anguilla team after they were nearly forced to pull out of the Games due to a lack of kit.  

In celebration of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, one of Birmingham’s leading Greek restaurants, Kouzina Greek, treated guests to a taste of Cyprus as over the weekend of 30^th – 31^st July. With Cyprus being one of the 54 Commonwealth Countries, it was the perfect opportunity for Kouzina Greek to showcase their award-winning Greek Cypriot cuisine and hospitality to thousands of visitors descending to Birmingham to watch the games.

From gymnastics to Paralympics, wheelchair basketball to 3x3 (basketball), cricket to athletics, lawn bowls to table tennis, rugby sevens to swimming, the narrative was (is) simple – DRAMA …in bucket loads!!!

In front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, local superstars Joe Fraser claimed his third gold medal – as Alice Kinsella picked up her second (gold) at the Arena Birmingham.
