The Brazilian Football Confederation said that it sent a letter to FIFA calling for a crackdown on racism in the sport, after a series of incidents targeting players including Brazil star Vinicius Junior.

The CBF told AFP it had also addressed the letter to European football's governing body, UEFA, and the South American confederation, a.k.a. CONMEBOL, urging stronger action to fight racism and raise awareness about a problem that has long dogged the sport.

Some supporters will be permitted to stand during the EFL Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle United. The match, on 26 February, will be the first major domestic English men's final in almost 35 years in which standing will be allowed.

Both clubs will be allocated 867 seats within new standing areas located behind each goal at Wembley Stadium. Premier League and EFL clubs have been allowed to introduce standing areas since the start of the 2022-23 season.

The Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad for the 2023 World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia (18 February) has been selected. Selection was based on the aims of the policy which were capability of team medal success at the Championship; supporting senior athlete preparation for future global track success; and providing opportunities for developing junior athletes with the potential for future success at Cross Country championships.

Several eligible athletes were not available for selection due to not expressing an interest and prioritising other race plans. However, GB & NI will have representation across all races within the Championships.
