New care home marks a vibrant first month with dancing, duck-feeding, and disco fever!
It’s been just one month since Iverley View Care Home opened its doors in Stourbridge, in the West Midlands, but this brand-new residential home is already making waves in the local community for all the right reasons. With a mission to create more than just a care home, Iverley View has focused on building a joyful, engaging space where residents can feel at home, stay active, and celebrate life, one meaningful moment at a time.
From day one, the team at Iverley View have gone above and beyond to welcome new residents with personalised care, fun-filled activities, and plenty of reasons to smile. The first resident’s arrival was marked with a sunny stroll to Mary Stevens Park for duck-feeding and ice cream, followed by a visit to the Severn Valley railway.
Since then, the month has been packed with feel-good transformations in the newly opened in-house hair salon, tai chi and pom-pom dance sessions, musical bingo, and even a full-blown Dementia Disco featuring a live DJ and 1950s dress-up. “We wanted to make it clear from the very beginning: life doesn’t slow down at Iverley View—it gets more meaningful,” said the team.
Highlights from the month also include live music performances for VE Day, with residents and guests swinging to the sounds of the sax and sharing wartime memories, as well as planning for upcoming community projects such as Talking Tables—a new initiative offering tea, cake, and conversation to reduce loneliness and promote connection. Feedback from residents and their families has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the home’s warmth, energy, and commitment to making each day count.
In just four short weeks, Iverley View has already become a hub of happiness, creativity, and care. Staff morale is high, community partnerships are blossoming, and most importantly, residents are thriving—feeling seen, heard, and celebrated.
And with plans underway to grow intergenerational connections, expand activity sessions, and involve residents in the day-to-day life of the home, it’s clear that this is just the beginning of something truly special.
