The UK’s booming car industry will continue to thrive, according to a new UK automotive industry report from Santander and EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation. This is due to increased demand for exports of UK manufactured vehicles; and the development of innovative, cutting-edge technologies that car manufacturers and drivers are demanding across the world.

As probably already ascertained from its name, the Miura Homage is designed to evoke Lamborghini’s first mid-engined supercar, launched 50 years ago this year, through a selection of retrospective color and trim combinations based on those of that original 1966 stunner. This beast coated in beauty drives like a devil. Lamborghini has revealed the latest version of its Aventador Miura Homage. Launched earlier in the year, this latest example is heading to the Hong Kong market - which will get only one car of the fifty available.

Researchers at Birmingham City University are hoping to transform the fortunes of magnesium by showcasing it as a viable alternative for luxury car makers and the aerospace industry. It comes as the institution signed an exclusive partnership with the world’s largest producer of magnesium components, Meridian, allowing the two organisations to work together in the education, research and development of magnesium use, which will place fuel efficiency through weight savings and sustainability at its core.

1.5 million cars - the equivalent of a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam stretching from Lands End to John O’Groats five times - have been seized on UK roads by police cracking down on uninsured vehicles. MIB (Motor Insurers’ Bureau) has confirmed that the UK’s 1.5 millionth uninsured vehicle has been seized in Haringey, North London.  The 23 year-old male was caught by the police driving his Vauxhall Corsa without insurance.

Following on from radical MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW ‘Vision Next 100’ concepts in 2016, the BMW Group has rounded off its quartet of centenary celebrations by reinventing the motorbike. Even staunch four-wheel advocates will be salivating at the outrageous tech that Motorrad, BMW’s bike arm, has thrown at its showpiece. Firstly (and most importantly if you value your limbs) it’s impossible to tip over, despite sticking with the traditional layout of two wheels and an engine between your legs.

Andy “Preacher” Haynes, from Walsall, swapped the pulpit for the race track and got his racing season back on track with a superb 2nd place finish at Cadwell Park. Racing with the British Historic Racing Club, along with driver Phil Boote, the team didn’t have the best start to the weekend with their new machine (MRE Yamaha XS 750) not performing as required. Saturday was spent setting the new bike up and whilst the team were happy with the handling, the bike just wasn’t making the power required to make it competitive.
