Motorists and cyclists are set to benefit after the government announced how £50 million of funding will repair nearly 1 million potholes across the country over the next 12 months. 13 councils in West Midlands will receive a share of £5.7 million, helping to remove around 108,000 potholes from local roads during this financial year. The funding has been made available as part of the £250 million Pothole Action Fund included in last month’s Budget, which will fix over four million potholes by 2020/21.

The model made famous by the Playstation Generation has been named the Most Iconic Japanese Car Ever by followers of Japfest, the biggest celebration of Japanese cars and culture in Europe. The organisers of the show, which will be held for the first time this year at Silverstone, Northants, carried out a survey among its social media followers to see which performance car would be identified as the most iconic model in Japanese car culture.

A consortium of leading UK businesses has secured funding from Innovate UK to examine the data requirements needed to support autonomous navigation. The ground breaking ‘Atlas’ initiative will study data critical to the efficient operation of autonomous vehicles and how it can be enhanced.  Testing the feasibility of maintaining, processing and distributing this data is a core element of the project.

Wolverhampton’s new £5 million Porsche Centre is set to open for business on Monday, April 4 – bringing with it new jobs. The dealership is relocating from Sutton Coldfield to purpose-built premises on Stafford Road, near to the i54/junction 2 gateway to the city.  Around 34 people, including five new recruits, will be employed at the centre, which is one of only two official Porsche showrooms in the West Midlands.

Visitors to this weekend's Goodwood Revival will be able to marvel at the 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe, which is making an epic journey from its home at The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia, all the way to the UK. The prestigious festival takes place from 11-13 September 2015 and this year will not only celebrate its 50th Anniversary, but will also be the first opportunity for over 50 years for fans of the 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe to see the car in Europe.
