Electricity network operator, SP Electricity North West, today (5 August) unveiled its new name and visual identity as part of the Iberdrola Group – one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies.

The new name and look follow the completion of Iberdrola’s majority acquisition of Electricity North West earlier this year and its subsequent alignment with Iberdrola’s ScottishPower brand within the UK. This makes ScottishPower the second largest distribution network operator in the UK – delivering electricity to around 12 million people across a network spanning more than 170,000 kilometres, from Stirling to Stockport.

The SP Electricity North West name and the distinctive Iberdrola/ScottishPower brand mark of the green leaf (symbolising renewable energy), blue drop (water and wind) and orange flame (solar energy) will now be gradually rolled out across the company, including its website, social media channels, depots, vehicles and personal protective equipment (PPE). Stephanie Trubshaw, SP Electricity North West’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We have always been champions of this wonderful part of the country and – as SP Electricity North West – that will continue, with our customers and communities at the heart of everything we do.

“As part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower family, we will use our collective strength to be a force for good as we continue to invest and deliver the modern and resilient electricity network the North West needs as we head towards a clean energy future. Alongside my colleagues across the business, I’m excited to begin the next stage of our journey as SP Electricity North West.”

Keith Anderson, ScottishPower CEO, added: “The roll-out of the new SP Electricity North West name and logo strengthens the collective identity of all our network licences under the ScottishPower and Iberdrola banners.

“It builds on the history and legacy of Electricity North West as a trusted partner connecting communities and keeping electricity flowing every day – a commitment that doesn’t change as we continue towards a better future, quicker, for everyone.” ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a global leader in electrification.

It has invested £30 billion in the UK over the last 15 years and will invest another £24bn - £18m every working day - in the UK between 2024 and 2028. ScottishPower is the only vertically integrated energy company in the UK with businesses that operate from power to plug.

Its ScottishPower Renewables business has over 40 operational offshore and onshore windfarm and solar sites generating enough green electricity to power around two million homes. SP Energy Networks, is a transmission network operator and the second largest distribution operator in Great Britain, delivering electricity to around 12 million people across a network spanning more than 170,000 kilometres.
