More of the biggest games in world cricket are coming to Birmingham in 2022 with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announcing seven Major Match days for Edgbaston Stadium next summer. Edgbaston will host Joe Root’s England men side for an LV= Insurance Test Match against South Africa from Thursday 25 to Monday 29 August and a mouth-watering Royal London International (ODI) versus India on Saturday 9 July.

The venue will also host the biggest day in the county cricket calendar, with Vitality Blast Finals Day returning to Edgbaston for the 14th time on Saturday 16 July.

The Manchester College has joined forces with Manchester Magic and Manchester Mystics to create a ground-breaking new basketball partnership in the city that will see its students benefit from a curriculum that is co-developed and co-delivered with an industry partner.

As well as benefitting the College’s student-athletes by helping them take their game to the next level, teaming up with one of the biggest and most successful junior basketball programmes in the country will generate a host of opportunities for students interested in coaching, refereeing, sports science, media, marketing and more.

Thousands of young athletes made their way home on the 5th of September after an exhilarating four days of sport at the 14th School Games National Finals, a multi-sport event which aims to give them the experience and tools to follow in the footsteps of professional athletes, many of which were on campus.

On top of Tokyo 2020 Olympians Holly Bradshaw and Alice Dearing opening up proceedings on the Thursday, Judo Paralympian Chris Skelley visited Wheelchair Tennis athletes on the final day following his successful Gold journey at Tokyo 2020.

For the first time since the original coronavirus outbreak closed China's borders, the country is preparing to allow foreigners to enter again in large numbers for the winter Olympics next February.

This had not seemed like it would pose much of a problem. People had become accustomed to life without many Covid restrictions, with authorities stamping out each outbreak of the virus as it came along.

Liverpool have said that they are satisfied that Naby Keita is safe and well as they work to get him out of Guinea following an attempted coup in the country. The 26-year-old was set to represent his country in a World Cup qualifier against Morocco.

The match, however, was postponed following hours of heavy gunfire near the presidential palace, with an attempted coup taking place in the capital Conakry. A Liverpool spokesman said that the club was in constant contact with Keita.
