Fashion students at Walsall College staged their dazzling annual Catwalk Show and showcased their creative designs to members of the public on Friday 17th June. The Wisemore Campus atrium was transformed with an elevated catwalk and came alive for the show, which was an artistic collaboration between Fashion, Hair and Beauty, Performing Arts, Dance and Music students.  During the show, a range of stunning collections that Fashion students have worked hard on throughout the year was unveiled with themes including oriental, tribal and accessories.

The Government of India is giving Commonwealth citizens the opportunity to attend fully-funded training courses across a range of areas, including rural development, IT, telecommunications and renewable energy, in association with the Commonwealth Secretariat. The courses are sponsored by the Government of India and delivered by Indian institutions through the Indian Technical and Economic (ITEC) Programme. ITEC is part of the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Third Country Training Programmes, which aims to build capacity in member countries by providing specialist training in key areas of development work.

Work to construct what is thought to be the world’s first classroom researched, planned and designed entirely by students is underway in Birmingham. And it’s not just a standard classroom – it’s a state-of-the-art science lab. King Edward VI Camp Hill School Year 11 pupils Simi Bhamra, Phoebe Thomas, Kate Pham and Chloe Taylor will soon be able to tour the lab they designed for mixed sciences.

Britain’s rail network, buses and the Tube are about to be turned into the country’s biggest learning zone, enabling busy professionals to learn the lessons of respected business leaders and self-help experts in the time it takes to get to work in the morning. A new service has launched in the UK, Joosr – providing downloadable non-fiction book summaries that can be read in just 20 minutes.

Outstanding pupils from seven primary and secondary schools in Coleshill, Erdington and Four Oaks, came together last week for the first official meeting of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership Student Leadership Team. The landmark event – which took place at the Stockland Green School - marked the first time students from each academy in the respected multi-academy trust had been together at the same time.
