Local graduate, Becca Harris, is kick-starting weekly creative workshops in Shirley, Solihull. The 24 year old, who lives with her partner, Chris, and four month old Springer Spaniel, Holly, graduated from the University of Worcester in 2013, with a First Class honours in Fine Art. She has since pursued her career in the arts, running a successful blog and selling hand-illustrated greeting cards, paintings and drawings on Etsy.

Young driver insurance brand ingenie is calling for schools to teach children hazard perception, following an experiment to see if experienced drivers could pass their theory, hazard perception and driving test – 20 years after passing the first time. The experiment shows Tracey, aged 45, and Lester, aged 51; fail their theory and hazard perception quite spectacularly. The hazard perception test, with just a 58% score needed to pass, was failed at 39% and 52%.

The first ever internship programme run by Midlands-based PKF Cooper Parry has been an overwhelming success, with all eight of this year’s intake being offered full-time roles with the firm. PKF Cooper Parry, which was recently named in the 2016 Sunday Times list of the Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work for, employs more than 350 team members at its East and West Midlands offices.

Fountainbridge student Sam Downing has racked up an impressive achievement for his CV – winning the Student of the Year for Engineering at Edinburgh College. Downing, 21, from the city centre area, was praised for his commitment to his new profession at the Prize Giving ceremony in June. A capacity 300 strong audience heard lecturer Gary David Paterson praise the student’s hard work and positive attitude. 

Fashion students at Walsall College staged their dazzling annual Catwalk Show and showcased their creative designs to members of the public on Friday 17th June. The Wisemore Campus atrium was transformed with an elevated catwalk and came alive for the show, which was an artistic collaboration between Fashion, Hair and Beauty, Performing Arts, Dance and Music students.  During the show, a range of stunning collections that Fashion students have worked hard on throughout the year was unveiled with themes including oriental, tribal and accessories.
