A cheque for almost £30,000 has been presented to Birmingham Children’s Hospital following a successful year of fundraising by the NEC Group. NEC Group Chief Executive Paul Thandi presented the cheque for £29,260.66 at the Group’s annual Awards ceremony. “Birmingham Children’s Hospital does incredible work helping thousands of children and their families from across the West Midlands and beyond every year, and the NEC Group staff really got behind it as their chosen charity of the year.

“I want to thank all of our employees for their donations and the creative ways in which they’ve raised funds over the last 12 months, and I have great pleasure in handing over this cheque.”

Money was raised for the Hospital through a variety of activities organised by staff at the Birmingham-based business including food sales, tickets sales contributions and donations.

A spokesperson from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to all of the staff at the NEC Group who helped to raise such a fantastic amount of money for the Hospital. It’s because of generous people in organisations like the NEC Group that we are able to help so many children and their families when they need it the most.

“Many children will benefit from this money and it will help us to continue the work that we do every day.”

The NEC Group will now begin to raise funds for Macmillan, the leading cancer care charity in the UK, after it was chosen as the next Charity of the Year by employees.
