The organiser of the only dining awards specifically for eateries with a wood-fired oven is firing up pizza chefs and urging them to put their wood-fired food on the map. Logs Direct, kiln-dried log supplier to the restaurant trade, as well as woodburner fuel specialist, has seven more of its iconic wooden, flame-shaped Woody Awards to bestow on Italian restaurants, and other eateries and pubs cooking with wood-fired ovens, this year.

So far, Woody Awards have been won by chefs in Leeds, Duffield (Derbyshire), Glasgow, Blackpool (Lancashire) and London, but there are many other pizza oven chefs still to scoop this culinary accolade.

Entering the Woody Awards is relatively easy as all an entrant needs to do is ask their customers to get behind them and endorse their food. Just three positive comments are required and, once these have been collated, the entrant just needs to email them to This email address is being protected from spambots. Winning a Woody has already brought media exposure to the deserving eateries, takeaway and mobile pizza operation that have scooped the specially made prize.  Woody winners in 2015 were the Pizza Guy, based in Leeds, Italio in Blackpool, The White Hart in Duffield (Derbyshire), CC's Wood-fired Pizza Pie Company in Glasgow and Yellowhouse in London.

Logs Direct director, Stephen Talbot, says: “We wish to reward wood-fired eateries across the country with Woody Awards, so are urging more wood-fired pizza chefs to try to emulate the achievements of other wood-fired heroes, based in kitchens across Britain.

“Entering is simple and could bring an eatery valuable media coverage, as well as providing something to boast about in their own marketing.  There's nothing to lose by having a go and you can enter each month, if you wish.”
