Leading wellness resort Chiva-Som in Hua Hin, Thailand has joined forces with its upcoming new venture, Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, to launch a programme of complimentary live online wellness classes, with up to eight classes a month starting from September 22.

Lifestyle transformation pioneer, Chiva-Som and Zula Wellness Resort – set to open in Qatar in late 2021 – have collaborated closely to deliver holistic wellness classes focussed on supporting individual mental and physical health as the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the world.

Affirmed in the ethos of making wellness accessible to everyone, these complimentary online wellness classes will be conducted live by experts, wellness advisors and practitioners from both Chiva-Som and Zulal Wellness Resort, allowing participants to connect with the wellness team from home via Zoom. The sessions will range from virtual exercise programmes and self-training tutorials to talks on nutrition, family wellness and indigenous wellness practices, all of which are designed to help participants get one step closer to achieving their health and wellness goals, especially as many countries continue to grapple with lockdowns and social distancing.

For the first time, the team at Zulal Wellness Resort will introduce individuals to the resort’s key wellness philosophies and practices based on Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine, or TAIM. Zulal will be the world’s first hub for TAIM, a 360-degree approach to healing sourced from Islamic medicinal historians and herbalists, and mind-body therapy.

Some of the September and October classes on offer include:

·         22 September: Self-stretch for office syndrome, 9:00 (GMT+1)

Applying ergonomic principles to workstations can help prevent and alleviate a variety of conditions, such as back and neck pain. Small adjustments and simple stretches can help blood circulation in the body and ensure muscles are never left in a state of atrophy for too long. Participants are invited to join Chiva-Som’s professional physiotherapist for a series of exercises to improve posture and mobility.

·         23 September: Kitchen herbs to be used as Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine, 13:00 (GMT+1)

Spices and herbs have been used for their natural healing properties for centuries, helping to create remedies for immune-related, digestive and respiratory issues. During this session, participants are invited to join Dr.Purnima Siddhanta, Holistic Manager of Zulal Wellness Resort to discover some of the most popular Arabic herbs, spices and seeds, and their various health benefits.

·         30 September: Hijama Therapy and applications, 13:00 (GMT+1)

Cupping (Hijama in Arabic) is an ancient method of releasing toxins from body tissues and organs.  The practice involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction, which in turn causes the tissue beneath to swell causing an increase in blood flow. This in turn draws impurities and toxins away from the nearby tissues and organs towards the surface for elimination. In this session, participants will learn the technique for cupping, and how the treatment is applied at Zulal Wellness Resort to support individual health needs.

·         6 October: Athletic Drills, 9:00 (GMT+1)

During this session, participants will be shown a variety of athletic drills to help improve speed, explosive power, coordination and specific sport skills to be applied to weekly training routines to help refine individual sports techniques and develop athletic performance.

·         7 October: What is Family Wellness and Application in Daily Life, 13:00 (GMT+1)

The session will introduce the concept of family and community wellness, and how family wellness can be applied in daily activities to achieve optimum wellness for all.

·         13 October: Endurance Exercise, 9:00 (GMT+1)

Prolonged sitting can be detrimental to individuals' health and lead to issues such as lower back pain, muscle tension, restriction of joint movement, and loss of strength. During this cardiovascular class, participants will follow a series of exercises that will engage the entire body, alongside a combination of muscle and strength exercises, to not only burn calories but improve physical and mental conditions.

·         14 October: Family Wellness Activities at Zulal Wellness Resort, 13:00 (GMT+1)

Zulal Wellness Resort’s family specialist will introduce participants to the resort’s comprehensive programme of family bonding activities, treatments and wellness retreats which are customised to support specific needs and the development of all age groups.

·         21 October: Edutainment Concept and the Linkage with Child Development, 13:00 (GMT+1)

Edutainment, the combination of entertainment and education, is a practice used to engage methods of teaching to promote excitement in learning. During this session, participants will learn how this concept is used at Zulal Wellness Resort and how it links to child development.
