Chelmsford-based housebuilder, Barratt and David Wilson Homes, has donated £1,500 to RSPCA Essex Mid & North, helping the charity continue its vital animal welfare work across Mid and North Essex.

The local RSPCA branch provides essential veterinary care and rehoming services for animals in need. The charity focuses on supporting pets whose owners are facing financial hardship and ensuring all animals are treated with compassion.

The charity manages two veterinary clinics and three charity shops in Essex to fund its rescue work, which last year included rescuing 483 animals and providing treatment to more than 5,000 pets, including operations and X-rays. The donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes went directly toward core animal welfare activities, including veterinary care and rehoming costs for rescued animals.

The funding has also been allocated to support events planned throughout 2026 to engage the local community and raise further awareness for animal welfare. Derrick Yapp, Income Generation Manager at RSPCA Essex Mid & North, said: “We were absolutely thrilled and incredibly grateful to receive this donation.

“As a branch that relies heavily on local support and volunteers, being recognised by a prominent community partner like Barratt and David Wilson Homes is a wonderful boost for our entire team, with every donation directly helping an animal find a new home or provides funds for life-saving surgery. Corporate donations like this are essential for maintaining our minimum animal welfare standards and continuing our work to ensure all animals in Mid and North Essex are respected and cared for.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made through its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Redrow Foundation. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities where the housebuilder operates.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its launch, it has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year.

Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We are proud to support RSPCA Essex Mid & North through our Community Fund scheme. The team’s work rescuing and rehoming animals makes a real difference to pets and families across Essex.

“We hope our donation helps provide the veterinary care and support these animals need and strengthens the charity’s ability to continue its vital work.” Barratt and David Wilson Homes is part of Barratt Redrow PLC, a FTSE100 company that was awarded a maximum five-star rating for the 17th consecutive year in the 2026 Home Builders Federation (HBF) Customer Satisfaction Survey

Site managers working for Barratt Redrow won 115 awards for quality workmanship in the 2025 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards. Barratt has won more Pride in the Job awards than any other housebuilder for the past 21 years.
